1. We must be resourceful in our efforts to instill the proper mindset in the profession. We are not a policing or administrative role; we are here to assist and provide solutions, not to create difficulties and roadblocks. Technical skills are less crucial than this approach. If someone doesn’t have it, don’t hire them.
2. Our processes and procedures need to be de-cluttered. Enough with the paperwork, regulations, and bureaucracy. 90% of it is unnecessary, and 100% of it is despised, loathed, and misunderstood by employees and managers alike.
3. We must quit saying “no.” Our communication with the business should be positive rather than negative. We need to be the ones who own the positive news. Individualize your approach to challenges rather than relying on memos. Stop sending out ineffective emails; if the message isn’t positive, don’t send it.
4. We must realize that you do not gain influence by exerting control; rather, you gain influence through other people’s positive impressions of you. Influence others by allowing them to want to be involved rather than forcing them to participate.
5. We need to reduce the number of initiatives. We should be able to clearly communicate why we are doing something and why our organization (not our HR Software in Saudi Arabia) wants it every time we look at something. We shouldn’t be doing it if we can’t.
6. We must pay attention to our staff and management. We need to stop seeing them as “the issue” and start seeing them as people who need our assistance. They are the reason we have work, so quit whining and start paying attention.
7. We need to shift our focus away from supposed best practices and toward “best fit” solutions. If our organizations merely require a simple answer, simply provide it. This isn’t about earning accolades at the CIPD or speaking at conferences; it’s about improving your organization.

10. People who do not support this agenda should be told that they have no place in the profession. They should either find another job on their own or we should assist them in doing so. There is no option to remain the same; there is only an option to change.

Every single one of us has a responsibility to raise standards and hold others accountable when they fall short of them. Those of us in positions of leadership must lead by example. We must be everywhere, and we must begin now.
